Today is June 21st and its the time of year again where thousands of dogs are consumed annually as the name of Yulin Dog Meat Festival held in Yulin, Guangxi, China. The festival spans about ten days starting from 21st June to 30 June. Dog meat consumption has began over 400 years ago in China. At the time of celebration of festival throughout the 10 days, dogs are paraded in wooden crates and metal cages and are taken to be skinned and cooked for consumption.
Social media campaigns have increased on spreading awareness of the festival around the world. Many animal activist have created hashtags such as #stopyulinforver #stopyulin2015 and #stopyulin2016 to create pressure to stop yulin dog meat festival.
